Progress:
1) We’ve contacted our Down syndrome group (Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati). We’re signing Mike up for an Adult Social Club. They meet monthly in 10 person groups. In addition they meet for special events as a large group.
2) We are attempting to network with other families. We're finding other families are very cautious.

Older information: The plan for making and keeping friends is not something easily described. Mike is currently very entrenched in his Catholic elementary school. The extent of Mike's friends are primarily his classmates.
Mike currently has ONE friend that have Down syndrome. His friend is a younger student at his school.
Soon Mike's classmates will be moving on to high school... possibly without Mike (As the doors to Catholic high schools are not currently open to children needing accommodations).
When Mike's formal schooling comes to an end it will be important that Mike is in a community he's comfortable in with people and places he's comfortable approaching. Mike is a valuable member of society and he needs to be seen as such.
Mike will need avenues for displaying his talents and making friends. These avenues may include his work and hopefully several hobbies.
It may be beneficial, but not necessarily required, that Mike make some friends with other individuals with Down syndrome. Mike may have deeper relationships with individuals that he has more in common with.
